Share a memory or story of a teacher that made the learning experience special for you or your child. This is a place to say thank you to the teachers that make schools a great place to learn how to be successful in life.

A Band Teacher
Posted: 03 May 2005 02:11 PM
Imagine the teacher that can stand in front of a stage of fourth graders with newly acquired band instruments every September then with great fortitude of character and ear form them into a reasonable sounding band? This was the late great music teacher Mr. Zimmerman. Skinny and tall as Abe Lincoln and smiley as a happy clown, Mr. Zimmerman molded our fingers around keys, tapped out quarter notes rhythms, and sang the tune above the noise until we sounded like the tune ourselves. What fun we had. What a gift he gave. Time with him was precious.

This message is for the teachers that helped me to understand "instruction" by: (creating a clear picture) of the course objectives for me to understand, then pass.

A good teacher is one that never gives up on a student. This teacher is always looking for ways to make her students sucessful because she has high expectations for each of her students. She creates the clear picture because she is constantly checking for understanding and reteaches what the students don't understand. If one student still doesn't understand then she finds other methods of getting her message across until every student sees the clear picture.

What great experiences you had with your teacher.
The experience that you will never forget
for the rest of your life.
He showed you how to have fun while you were
building a new creation of wonderful sounds together
with your friends.
Lucky you!!!!!
