| I am a teacher at a private school. We work closely with the public school district who is responsible for testing children for a variety of educational concerns. As teachers, there are times when our "gut" knows that there is something amiss with a child's learning but because we are not licsensed psycologists or therapists we must be extremely careful in the words we choose in conferencing with parents. We know when a child is not learning to their potential but find ourselves very often ... |

| I am in my 15th year of teaching, all of which has been done at the early childhood level. I currently teach kindergarten. I felt very comfortable with my style, approaches, strategies, core beliefs--until this year when I met a particular student. He has really turned my classroom (and me) upside down! I know this student struggles with attention controls as he is up and around the classroom all day. He struggles with following basic school routines and procedures. He struggles socially ... |

| I have a similar student in my kindergarten class. He is the brightest student by far...but certainly not so far ahead as to push him further with work. Parents divorced and I feel that the humor is a way to guard against the inside pain he feels about the situation. In the meantime, classroom consequences don't do any good and we've had limited success on a behavior contract. We even set up a program to work/talk with a favorite male teacher one-on-one to build a relationship that seems to ... |
