The Dunn Institute, founded in 1999, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing programs and services to those living or working with learning differences. Specifically, Dunn’s mission is to help all children with learning differences be successful in school and in life by providing training for teachers, services for students and resources for families and the community. The Hasbro Center for Teaching Excellence is the professional development arm of the Institute, and offers graduate level courses, conferences, school-based literacy reform models and on-site consulting to districts and higher education organizations.
The Dunn Institute offers the Generalist and Subject Specialist Core Courses to educators and administrators in public and private schools in Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and parts of Massachusetts. Tuition for the course is $1,500 which covers program materials, 35 hours of Core Course instruction, approximately 10 hours of follow-up “Schools Attuned in Practice” instruction, and membership in the Schools Attuned Networked Learning Community. Upon completion of the 45-hour program, participants receive a Certificate of Completion from Schools Attuned and may opt to receive three (3) graduate credits from the University of Rhode Island.
